CHRISTIAN ASSISTANCE MINISTRY (CAM)

The Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) is a not-for-profit cooperative Ministry founded in 1977.  The mission of CAM is to provide immediate assistance to all those in need in a caring and compassionate manner.  The assistance provided includes food, clothing, emergency financial aid, nutrition education, job-information, budget training, referrals to other agencies and counseling.  Our focus is on preventing homelessness and moving people towards independence.  All clients are interviewed and all claims are verified, while protecting the clients' self-esteem privacy.  CAM is primarily a volunteer driven organization in need of 150 volunteers a week.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us at the number listed below.  At present, CAM has 55 churches on the board.  Last year, CAM assisted approximately 30,000 people.

Dora Copland has been a volunteer at CAM for 11 years.  Holy Trinity is now a Member Church.  As a result, Dora was selected to serve on CAM's Advisory Board, which meets once every three months.  At this meeting, the board members (10) give their quarterly reports.  An up to date statement of Revenue and Expenditures and the number of Clients that have been served is given.  Old and new business is discussed.

Holy Trinity has four volunteers who serve CAM weekly.  In addition to Dora Copeland, they are Guy LoTurco, Vera Gonzalez and Rose Nuttall.

CAM always needs volunteers who could serve one half day, ideally once a week, in the AM or PM for three to four hours.

As a Member Church of CAM, which means we have given financial support, we are expected to take donations of food and or clothing at least twice a year.  We plan to have a drive in early spring and late summer.
