EXTRA-ORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
(EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS)
Ministry of the Body and Blood of Christ during mass,
to the sick in the hospital, or to the homebound. This ministry is
special in that it allows the minister to have a unique and specific
function to perform at each liturgy, the ministry of communion. For
some taking Holy Communion on a regular schedule to the sick is a
special calling so those unable to attend mass can receive the saving
power of the Eucharist and the prayers of our parish community.
The names of those who desire to become Eucharistic
ministers will be given to our pastor for selection to this ministry.
After selection, Eucharistic ministers are given training and must
be available during most of the year to perform this vital function.
Eucharistic minister schedules are published once each
quarter for planning purposes of the ministers. Eucharistic ministers
may be scheduled for any mass. The scheduler will however attempt
to schedule persons for this ministry to the mass most often attended
by the Eucharistic minister.
