HISTORY OF THE STATUES IN HOLY TRINITY
The six foot statue of Mary holding the Child Jesus
is from the old Our Lady of Victory Convent at Grimes and Montana
Streets here in San Antonio. The nuns sold the property in 1994 and
contacted Msgr. Fater to obtain the statue. The statue originally
was made in Spain or Italy due to its texture and pre-dates the 1930's
according to the expert who refinished the statue in 1995.
The other statues (St. Anthony, St. Joseph, and the
Little Flower of Jesus) were from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church
on 61st street in midtown Manhattan, New York. That church closed
in 1996 and Msgr. Fater obtained the statues in 1997 from the pastor,
Rev. Francis Collins, C.S.S.R.
