CDA Scholarships

Scholarship Committee

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA), Court # 2661 has facilitated many students to reach their educational goals through a Hope for the Future Scholarship.

The membership determines by way of a vote the dollar amount and number of scholarships to be awarded. Funds are generated by CDA Sisters through numerous fundraisers.

All 8 ^th graders attending a Catholic school and choosing to continue their Catholic education in San Antonio at a Catholic high school of their choice, are eligible.  Scholarships are awarded annually in May for the next school year.

The Archdiocese Hope for the Future office is responsible for the distribution of applications to all Catholic schools.  Students are asked to write an essay, no more than 500 words, reflecting on a theme or scripture selected by the Scholarship Committee. Application packets are submitted to the Hope for the Future office.  

The Scholarship Committee grades all essays using a rubric. The committee then selects the recipients based upon the score.  Scholarship are presented at a CDA Membership Meeting.  Checks for all scholarships are made payable to Hope for the Future.
