THE SPIRIT OF CARE AND GIVING AT
HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH
28 years ago, a small group of Holy Trinity parishioners began distributing clothing to the homeless population of downtown San Antonio. They wanted to give some blankets and winter clothes to the people sleeping under the bridges in our downtown area before the cold set in. From its humble beginnings, this ministry grew into a great Holy Trinity tradition and spirit of giving that helps the most truly needy people in our very own San Antonio community.
In an effort to more effectively distribute the donations to the neediest, distribution began to be managed in 2010 by Haven for Hope, a non-profit homeless center operated by the city in downtown San Antonio. Haven for Hope in its mission statement describes “a place of hope and new beginnings”, and its core values include radical compassion, servant leadership, a drive for hope and a pursuit of excellence.
Since 1994, Holy Trinity has always been extremely generous in support of this ministry, and after a one-year break in 2021 due to Covid, we are back again seeking the assistance of the Holy Trinity family to help the homeless population of Bexar County. Please see the reverse side of this flyer for the items needed this year, including socks, shoes, blankets and winter clothing.
There are many volunteer opportunities available to assist our local homeless population both on and off the Haven for Hope campus.
